It looks poor and is far from showing main transport routes. I’d be happy to find a way to depict real functional (as opposed to technical) highway network and I wonder what tagging would work.
Thanks Dmytro, nice job! If we want only S-ways with max speed 120 (that means with two lanes in each direction) then we schould exclude also S22 from Elblag to Russian border, S6 near Słupsk and S1 near Pyrzowice Airport (do I forgot something?).
@kocio european e-roads as trunk aren’t solution? Aren’t they trunk roads? There is even link from Wiki trunk road definiton to “droga krajowa” in Poland. That is ofcourse to much, but trunk road for all e-roads its just the right one answer.
I think this should be added to relations, not highways. You should use international reference (int_ref) and add selected national road to main network. I do it when creating maps for navigation, but you can add a new explicit tag to relation.
@dammat: Sorry for the stupid question, but I got lost a bit 
- do we have separate tagging for e-roads now? I think they are trunk by definition, but retagging them requires community to agree to really work - and not only in Poland - so I look for a workaround.
I hope one day OSM will get serious with separation functional merits from technical ones. Europe is just a small part of the world, other continents and countries should also have the network of main roads visible as complete (wherever this is functionally true, of course, because some parts may be physically missing or not used as main roads - for example additional links for hard to access places).
@Dmytro Ovdiienko: Could you test rendering such things as e-roads (and maybe similar roads for other continents) or at least tell me how to do it myself? I would be very glad!

I think definition below pretty much allows us to do so without looking for premissions all around. This is one of the base of OpenStreetMap. When you belive that you are giving good contribute, no one gives reasonable objection, definitons like bellow is on your side, then you should do it. Everyone should in such situation.

@Dmytro looks like it is not finished yet. Its hard to work on data which is not rendered on the map. When we will start using trunk for e-roads, that can change. Next step can be reqest parallel rendering ref and int_ref like Google Maps.

I dont know other cases but here unfortunelly its start to be personal. I already noticed that someones will denied everything i will propose. It’s not good for the project.
I don’t think it is good idea to rely on renderer. You can download data just like me and render it on your desktop. It is relatively easy.
I want to say that it is easier to persuade community to work on data, which is visible on the map. This is exactly why we can see changes on Mapnik so quickly.
I guess it’s a common pattern that dispute starts being more or less personal from some point, even if it wasn’t at the beginning and nobody intended it to be this way. However there are people willing to help resolve such cases and I think this is the right time to ask for their help:

Ale z Ciebie hipokryta. Sam w dniu 5 sty 2014 samowolnie bez żadnej konsultacji ze społecznością dokonałeś zmiany wersji wprowadzonej przez Yarla 5 lat wcześniej. Ja tylko przywróciłem wersję yarla po tym jak wgłębiłem się w temat, sprawdziłem co określa się przez “trunk road” w języku angielskim.
Powiedz dlaczego niszczysz ten projekt? Ustalasz swoje własne zasady, aby co dla mnie niezrozumiałe upodobnić OSM do UMP (drogi ekspresowe, wcześniej wprowadzałeś własne zasady tagowania dróg nieutwardzonych). OSM jest projektem globalnym, ma własne zasady, unifikację, więc to co zrobiłeś zmieniając tłumaczenie trunk jak najbardziej jest wandalizmem. DWG już raz Ci konto zablokowało, chcesz ponownie tego? Myślałeś, że jak mnie zmobingujesz na forum to dam sobie spokój?
Wracając do tematu, mam odpowiedź kolegów pomagających w nierozstrzygalnych sporach. W związku z tym proszę o wypowiedź każdego zainteresowanego tematem, w świetle poniższej definicji:

A DWG zablokowało mi konto za importowanie adresów bez stworzenia oddzielnego konta i za nieprzedyskutowanie tych importów na liście imports@, a nie za mobbingowanie biednego dammata
