Ker za tega se pojavi opozorilo "Aerial imagery MK LIDAR … might be misaligned. Please check its offset using GPS tracks!", zato se ga nekako nisem ravno posluževal…

<valid-georeference>false</valid-georeference>

in JOSM zato v tem primeru dovoli korekcijo pozicije.

I’m not really part of this conversation, but if I may chime in, I think it would be correct to split the relation name tag into

ref=143
+
name=Pot kurirjev in vezistov NOV Slovenije

(sorry if this is already being discussed above)

I need to clear knowledge here. If we have master route it’s ref should be route reference that exist for this whole route, I guess. But can master route have more routes with it’s ref as part number?

Najverjetneje zato, ker mapiranje ni bilo dokončano. Osebne prioritete so se obrnile z novim življenjem.
Zato skušam najprej v WIKIju pripravit in potem vnašat oz. delat vzporedno, sproti.

Also Via Alpina has segment marks in name of segment. I believe that it’s good to keep it just to have somehow different name from master route.

Hm, zanimivo.

What I’m trying to say is that 143 shouldn’t be part of the name=*, as it is not the name, but the number of the route (hence use ref=* for it). And clearly, the tilde sign ~ is currently only there for syntactic reasons, which are not osm-standard to my knowledge, it is neither part of the name nor the number. The tilde should therefore be entirely omitted.

About your concern of the relation and its members having the same name, I don’t think this is a problem. As I see it, it is common practice for route relations in OSM to:

  • Give the relation its proper route name=* (obviously)
  • Give member ways their local names if they have any. The route name can in this case optionally be added as alt_name=*
  • If member ways don’t have a local name, it is ok to give them the same name=* as the relation (use your own judgement if it makes sense in the local context). It is also ok to not give the way any name in this case.

And yes, the relation does indeed look a bit messy at the moment. Thanks for taking care of this!

(again, I hope I’m not cross-posting here. I have to admit I didn’t go through translating the previous posts in this conversation…)

So segment Via Alpina Red R3 should not have R3 in name? Who are you going to address this?

Can JOSM or other software properly order routes in master_route? My concern is how am I going to stort routes if I’ll not see ref and have all same name routes. This pop-ups @mk2k22 's idea of having from: and to: in the route name OR just to: in name like it’s on geopedia.si OR combining ref with to:

Ref for Pot kurirjev in vezistov NOV Slovenije is ref=TV, therefore ref for segments should be TV-#sid (where #sid is segment ID number), like e.g. Via Alpina

I think it’s still useful to have the route segment code/number in the name (name= …) because I believe apps like OsmAnd or Mapy.cz display only the names of such relations as per the name=* tags but not also the ref=* tags… (I know, probably we should nag the developers of these apps to do something about it, but who knows if they would. )

143 ~ Pot kurirjev in vezistov NOV Slovenije:

Mapy.cz

Freemap.sk

So far it seems Freemap.sk is the only renderer I know that actually recognizes the ref tag and then displays it in parentheses apparently:

Via Alpina R3:

Freemap.sk

Mapy.cz

this is typical tagging for the renderer, and you know it. The drawback is that you don’t know which part of the “name” is the “name” and which isn’t and that apps that assemble different information for display, like the name and the number, will work worse because of us not respecting the definitions to work around suboptimal apps.
This is all known, and the solution is what you write in parenthesis.

I have decided to stick with temporary names of segments, to split big relation into segments.
Removing segment ID from name of segments is much less work comparing to splitting big relation into segments. It’s not about rendering.

I have tested to name segment with name of superroute, but run in trouble in ID editor where I feel pain to distinguish between segments that share same path (in backward/forward).
Having segments without name is OK until somebody remove parrent (super route) and than it may looks like that floating route (we have history, yes, we can fix this, but takes time).

Fixing editing tools that will show (non void) ref in the route name would change editors behaviour.
