Re: Potlatch
There is a plugin for JOSM to manipulate GPS-Tracks (never used it). I have a Garmin and use Mapsource to edit my tracks.

Since one year I'm mapping for OSM. I never had the need to modify single trace points. I'm regularly deleting points at the beginning of traces when the trace is of bad quality, not exact enough. I tried JOSM/Plugins/EditGpx which is able to delete points and anonymize timestamps. But I wasn't satisfied with the result because the sequence of the points got scrambled. Now I'm checking the track in JOSM and decide up to where to delete. I open the track with a simple text editor, WordPad on Windows, and delete the points up to this position. This is easy and quick.
