Are folk names welcomed in OSM data ?

Hello,

I know a folk name of a small hill in my hometown. By "folk" I mean it's only known by inhabitants who have lived there for a very long time (10 years +) or those who have grown up near this small hill.

It seems that there is no official name at all. The folk name sounds quite funny: "the hill of Juju", Juju being an anonymous guy, maybe an old inhabitant.

Do you think OSM is a place to put this very blurred detail ?

I think you can use loc_name or, if unsure, alt_name: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name

Absolutely encouraged and celebrated. Local information is one of the things that makes OSM great. If there's no other name, let it be.
