I am sorry to say I don’t really know how to do this for cycling, where both directions are packed in one relation with forward and backward roles, combined with split cycle-network nodes. In Nederland, user https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/dvdhoven is the leading expert on that. I am sure he can provide good examples.
One other thing: The Dutch now use ref=mm-nn instead of note=mm-nn on the node2node relations. Knooppuntnet, OsmAnd and most of the renderers and routers support this, in fact using note=mm-nn was the exception. The reason is: the note key should contain mapper’s notes about the object, not details for the end user.
There is a lot of retagging to be done, but in a few months we will have this behind us.
Any objections, please let me know! Also, if 2020-06-15 is too soon, let me know. If you prefer to perform this yourselves, please do!
Consensus in the German community about this is very important to me. I will only proceed if no objections are raised.
Sorry to continue in English - my German is terrible.
I have looked at some of the cycle node networks. The action as described on my mechanical edit page is simply not possible, because the tagging is not consistent enough. The node numbers are in the name tag, the description tag, the note tag, and/or the ref tag, sometimes in three tags at the same time so very redundant; often mixed with other information and special punctuation.
Often there is also note:de and description. Sometimes the way this is done is consistent within a network, but sometimes it differs within the network.
All systems are acceptable to me, but it prevents me from using the automated edit. This can only be performed by the German community after reaching consensus about how to tag node network routes. Then you could setup a joint effort to adapt all networks according to this consensus.
I still could be of service if an agreed way of tagging has been established. Then I can do a lot of work reasonably fast.
My primary advice to get at that point would be: keep it simple. Tag less, avoid redundancy, and tag consistently.
E.g. there is no point in repeating the network information in all the separate routes, or to put information about the nodes in the routes. If an application needs that information, it can get it from the network and from the nodes.
