Batch edit for entire highway (due to changed number)

Hi there,

In Switzerland, a renumbering of a highway took place in January 2020 after certain highways changed ownership (cantonal highway to federal highway). Is it somehow possible to batch edit all stretchs in once since every bit would take long.

What OSM editor is your favourite tool to get near such an aim?

Are you familiar with high-level editing in JOSM?

It makes more sense to raise the question on the Swiss mailing list, and please provide a source for the new numbers (see list.openstreetmap.ch if you are not subsribed).

This should be easy in JOSM. Download from Overpass API, specify existing ref, search for that ref, change to new number.

Usual cautions apply, of course.
