Welcome to the Belgian forum! Here are some pointers:

Welcome to the Belgian OpenStreetMap forum!
Feel free to speak English, French, Dutch or German here.

About US

We are all volunteers here. Most of us just like to map, but we also try to be an organization you can talk to. We are a diverse bunch, and hence you can talk to us in many ways.
If you’ve got any questions, we can help you: if you think you broke something, don’t know for sure how to map something, or just want to know more about OpenStreetMap, you can contact us:

In case you just want to keep track of what we’re doing:

About YOU

Yes, you read that right. We love to hear all about you, what you’re doing, what you’re hoping to achieve, what bothers and annoys you, and what small victories happened to make your day.
As much as ‘getting your inspired’, we care about ‘being inspired’ aswell.

Assuming you’ve read all of the above, you know where to find us.
We’re awaiting you. No promise on cookies.

Pointers and resources

OpenStreetMap, as you will find out (or have done so already) involves a lot more then ‘drawing what you see and make sure it looks pretty’.
Here’s a few basic resources you may want to dig into in case of questions:

  • The official wiki (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki). It has a ton of info, and lists the conventions on what tags to use

  • Your favorite search engine. Searching with something like this: ‘“site:wiki.openstreetmap.org [search term]”’ will help you navigate the wiki mentioned before.

  • The OpenStreetMap Help forum (https://help.openstreetmap.org/)

  • Tons of visualisations, allowing you to see where you’ve been active, who’s active around you, … (http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/)

  • Overpass Turbo. It’s a great tool to query / style / visualise the data the default renderen doesn’t show. Link with an example: (http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/wBK)

The above may be a lot to take in. Do it at your own pace, reach out to others when you feel you need help or feedback.
We love helping people on board, and be ‘one of us’.

Happy Mapping!
