Divide Regions and Mark Points according to Longitude and Latitude

Hi all,

I’m new to OSM, and I was wondering if I am able to do something like this:

  1. Enter longitude and latitude to focus on a square region
  2. Divide the width and length into 100 internals respectively, ie. get 100*100 cells within the region
  3. Mark points on the region. Points’ coordinates are stored in a file.
  4. Calculate how many points show in each cell

If I am not able to do the whole process, would like to know which steps I can do using OSM. Thanks a lot in advance!~:)
