Problem in Font

hi

i download routable map for my garmin map64s. its so good. but some cities name is not correct. for example ‘Ahwaz’ in map is ?hw?z.
every a changed to ? and i can not find my cities that i need. in web app everything is ok.

I think the map uses latin1 codepage because this is supported by most of the devices.
The tool used to create the map (mkgmap) can be configured to select e.g. the int_name tag in preference to name.
I assume this feature is not used and so the program tries to translate the aracbic (?) name اهواز to latin.

The program mkgmap also supports unicode, I think your device also supprts it, but I don’t know if you can type arabic characters
in the search fields…

Gerd

so what i have to do now? whats your idea?

Since OSM is just a database you need to contact the provider of you map or create your own maps.

Where did you download the map, garmin.openstreetmap.nl? It supports only latin1.
Try https://extract.bbbike.org/ and choose a map format for Garmin with UTF-8 and see if it works.

how can i create my own map?i think its so hard.

o downloaded from openstreetmap.nl.
thanks for your help. i will try

what is better format for me? device : map64s for outdoor and camping in jungles and mountains.

Try Garmin Leisure (UTF-8) - it is based on the Freizeitkarte I think.

thank you so much. i will try all type of map.

i see this error on my device : can’t authenticate maps. contact seller for help
