MapRoulette challenges in Malaysia

Hello OSM Malaysia,

I’m Andrew Wiseman with Apple’s Maps team. We recently used our Atlas data analysis tool (https://github.com/osmlab/atlas) to look at a few types of potential issues, such as roads that have overly sharp angles, that cross but don't connect, and places where navigation is impossible due to missing connections or potentially incorrect one-way roads.

I've posted the results of those checks on MapRoulette, a tool that lets you go through potential issues one by one and either correct them or indicate they are not a problem. I wanted to let you know they are available in case others wanted to try fixing some of them — I also plan to go through some of them myself.

In MapRoulette you can either pick a random task to fix or click on a specific one. If you want to do tasks around a certain location, such as somewhere you are familiar with, you can click on one from the map view, and then click Next task: Nearby when you finish it.

The checks are:

* Malaysia Sink Islands and Impossible Routing: https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/4218
* Malaysia Sharp Angle Roads: https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/4219
* Malaysia Floating Roads: https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/4220
* Malaysia Crossing Roads: https://maproulette.org/browse/challenges/4221

Let me know if you have any questions or feedback. Thanks!

Re: MapRoulette challenges in Malaysia

Anyone know how to get JOSM remote control going with Maproulette? My JOSM works with openstreetmap.org, but not with maproulette's website. Came up with error message "Don't recognize command" or something.. Already accepted certificate at port 8112.

iD is okay, but I can get so much more done with JOSM.

Hmm, you could try filing a bug here https://github.com/osmlab/maproulette3

Re: MapRoulette challenges in Malaysia

I kinda find a workaround to this. Noticed that there is a gps coordinate listed on the task on maproulette page, so I just copied that and download the surrounding area using josm. Easiest would be to use the Add node feature, then download the area surrounding it.

Still have to pseudo edit the maproulette page, so as to get the "I fixed it" button to show. For this i just click edit in iD, but closes the tab as soon as it loads. I proceed editing in josm, and uploading once I am done (usually after finishing more that one task).

On Xubuntu / Firefox / Java (from Oracle). Working as intended.
