Worldwide routable Garmin maps: URL REMOVED

Hello everyone!!! I tried to download new version of garmin map from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/. But in section “Request your map or download it directly” there is only info:“make a selection first” and no possibility of downloading map. Why is that?

You’ll have to select your map first (?)
I do select the maps but can’t download or do anything… :frowning:

Hello everybody,
I seem to have the same problem. No matter my selection (via tiles or by country) the site keeps saying I have to make a selection first. Using the optional ‘typ button’ MAPNIK makes the server looking for existing maps, but it stays looking, even after 10 minutes or longer. Does anyone know why this is (and perhaps solutions?)? Thnx Incantatrix

Hi, I also have the same problem. I select the maps and then where it says:- Request your map or download it directly:
(Make a selection first) I used to be able to put my email address in there and then wait for the two emails. Now I’m not given the option to put my email address in. Nothing happens. Last week was the same problem then it said the server was down so couldn’t get them and now we’re back to the same problem. Help!!

Hi BBBIKE.

Yepp. Using the proposed settings it seems to work on my Edge 520.
Thx 4 help. Will donate.

Hello,
I get the same problem…
Help please

There is nobody here who can help you, you have to wait and check if it is fixed or not.
The quickest solution is find another map provider.

Can you please recommend a good provider for Russian maps - ideal for motorcycles?
Thank you in advance!

Hello again. Does anybody has an idea how to let know the mapmaker about downloading problems? Because I didn’t find any possible contact form to them…

See page 1 post #1

And skip the first line, he might not visit this forum often.

No doubt I’m missing something obvious, as I’ve used http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ before. I can easily select the tiles I want, but I don’t see where to enter my email, select to have a composite file, and ask for the download. WHAT am I missing?
Thanks, Geoff

I have been a really enthusiastic user for years, but the server status frightened me very much:

Server status:
osm.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/, queue = 1 requests (~0 days), status = OK
sn21.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/, queue = 3751 requests (~15.6 days), status = OK

Why is the queue so high and I would have to wait at least 7 days for my card…?

Mirko, please read the previous posts then you can guess why

Hello,
I also have a question
in my mail is:
“This request is # 752 in the queue. The delay is approximately 1.6 days.”

But that is already 5 days ago.
Unfortunately I still got a link to the donload.

Wouldn’t it make sense to do a complete reset and then accept new requests?
Who is the operator of the site?
Maybe it is just spammed because of all the requests…?

The problem is that Lambertus seems to be not responding to any queries.

For all those stuck in the waiting queue - there is a way around this issue - just select map type and tiles as usual, but instead of requesting the download, just look at the bottom of left sidebar - there are direct links to all selected tiles there - just download them all, and then use a tool like http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/ (I’m sure there are other more user-friendly if you don’t like the command line) to merge them into one gmapsupp.img file, rename it to gmapbmap.img, upload to your Garmin and you’re gold. Just tested, works fine.

Great tip, worked perfectly for me too. Thank you!

I found MapWel Map Upload worked a treat to easily combine the tiles and load them onto a Garmin 520.

Had the same problem, gonna try the solution you’ve suggested here, hope it will help me
