Because the OSM project only map features on the ground and features in the sky are not useful, I would like to recommend automatically detect the following parameters in uploaded .gpx files and hide them if relevant criteria are met in order to exclude distracting GPS traces of flights from showing up on map:
- Height of any nodes in the track exceeded 7000m over most of the world, or 9000m for Himalaya region, or 1000m over open ocean
- Average speed of the track exceeded 800km/h. There are future land-based transportation modes that could exceed this speed but they are expected to be construct within tunnels and are thus expected to be impossible to be used to create GPS traces.
Or at least ask for double confirm from users in the future when their uploaded gps tracks contain such characteristics and also review uploaded public tracks that fit these characteristics
