Worldwide routable Garmin maps: URL REMOVED

I am trying to download some routable cycling maps for Spain. Despite selecting the relevant tiles the web site doesn’t appear to recognise that I have done so and still asks me to make a selection first. There is no download link.

Server status:
osm.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/, queue = 0 requests (~0 days), status = OK
osm2.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/ not available!
sn21.pleiades.uni-wuppertal.de/garmin/ not available!

Am I doing something wrong?

thanks

No. The service is broken, see #2911 for alternatives.

go here

You can download them here: http://www.openfietsmap.nl/downloads/europe
Scroll down to get the GPS version for Spain (OFM(EU2018_SW_GPS).zip)

Bom dia!
Alguém sabe o formato correto para baixar o mapa no site
https://download.bbbike.org/osm/
e rodar no garmin edge 520?

Everything in that list with “Garmin” They only differ in style. OSM is the basic Garmin style (very ugly), or you can choose cycle map, leisure (freizeitkarte), OpenFietsMap, OpenSeaMap, OpenTopoMap, and BBBike.

Hello Forum!

First, let me thank of all the work contributed to Openfietsmap!

I am trying to do roadbike-routing with Garmin Basecamp and OFM (Alps), but it seems that cobblestone roads are unpaved and excluded from routing. (My activity is “car” with “avoid unpaved roads”)

Is this a bug, intended or am I overlooking something?

Thanks!

Yes that is intended behaviour, unfortunately Garmin has only two options, avoid it “on” or “off” not something in between.
Same could be said about gravel tracks with a smooth rideable surface. Those will be avoided too, unfortunately. Until it has rained heavily, then you will be happy that the OFM avoids them. But I agree routing is far from perfect. You only can try bicycle as activity instead of cars, it will choose more unpaved possibilities.

Thanks for the clarification.

I totally disagree that routing is far from perfect, I do get very good results for my taste.
I totally agree, that every bike-rider has different preferences regarding surface and routing.

I tried to build the map on my own and tweak the style a bit but I failed*. Is the “Openfietsmap full” style in the github repo the one that is used for the maps to download? Which typ is used?

It was the first time I fired up mkgmap, so there are plenty of things I might habe down wrong. Just wanted to be sure I am using the correct input for my expected

  • the car profile of the created map behaved like for real cars. Either it used a default style or I was passing the wrong style to mkgmap

What options did you use for mkgmap?

–style-file pointed to the “Openfietsmap full” folder in styles (seemed to work, checked with “–list-styles”), the first options file was “mkgmap.args” in styles/Openfietsmap full, the second one created by splitter.

didn’t specify a typ.

mkgmap worked fine, except some warnings about elevation data which I ignored for the beginning.

I also tried the “bike-map” option from mkgmap but the result was the same.

Should one change map identifier/version/etc to avoid issues with Basecamp Map Cache?

What I wanted to see was the order of options. Some users specify the --style-file option after the templates.args from splitter, and that means that mkgmap uses the default style for the files.

Thanks for the hit, I’ll check when I’m back from work.

But the bash history in my brain says I have been caught by that and it would explain the output.

Styles are here: https://github.com/ligfietser/mkgmap-style-sheets/tree/master/styles/Openfietsmap%20full

Args file is here: https://github.com/ligfietser/mkgmap-style-sheets/blob/master/styles/Openfietsmap%20full/mkgmap.args

You need to specify a typ file otherwise the whole map is screwed up. Use this type file (is the same for both full and light version): https://github.com/ligfietser/mkgmap-style-sheets/blob/master/typ/Openfietsmap%20lite/20011.txt

Car routing is not supported at all so I guess something went wrong in your compilation.

Thanks for helping me to get started! Indeed it was the fault of passing the --style-file option after templates.args

BTW: The service at http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl seems to work again

Having some similar problems accessing the above site … when selecting a predefined set of maps (Thailand, in my case), the download now link shows </script>");} ’ target=‘_blank’>Download map now!

Examination of the full link address shows that its seems to contain a Data Miner.

Now, I have run a number of Malware checker programs including Malwarebytes, which says my PC is clean, but of course, it could be wrong Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour ?

I see this download link for generic new style + Thailand:

Russ, I dont see this behaviour. Maybe your computer is infected?

Gerd, thanks.
Ligfietser - Yes, I’m quite mindful of the fact the problem is local … and have been doing some more checking. When I open your site using a different network connection (4g Hotspot), the problem goes away. I normally connect through a condo community Wifi network and I strongly suspect this has been compromised.
Cheers, Russ.
