noob question: getting a "site can't be reached" error on export

I have selected a region to download (shanghai) but when I hit “export” I keep getting an error saying that the site cannot be reached:

Here is the url it is trying to reach:

https://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/map?bbox=121.3903%2C31.2686%2C121.7975%2C31.4541

and here is the error message:

This site can’t be reached
The webpage at https://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/map?bbox=121.3903%2C31.2686%2C121.7975%2C31.4541 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE

Am I doing something terribly wrong?

Your area is too large, try one of the other download options mentioned on the “export” page.
