Searching for a better tag than highway=historic

Hi!
Please look at this cs discussion: http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/50142974
I don’t like the tag because it
a) doesn’t give a hint if the road is very old and still usable or maybe not even visible because it was razed centuries ago
b) is likely to be used by routers, which seems to be unwanted even by the mapper

I assume there are many such roads in the UK, what is the common tagging?

thanks,
Gerd

Hi Gerd
You should post this to the talk-gb mailing list, these forums get very little traffic.

I’m only here because I followed the link on the changeset discussion.

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,
thanks for the hint. I’ve done that now with the same subject, post awaits moderator aproval.

Hi Gerd
You will need to sign up to the list to post, I asked about the moderator and he apparantly hasn’t been seen for several years :frowning:

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,

I watched talk-gb over the last days, there is also almost no activity compared to the german forum. So I think I’ll try different ways.
Feel free to post a link to this thread.

Gerd

It looks like Dyserth will change it to historic:highway= (at my suggestion) which is much better, I think.
