Isn't it more 'logic' to have the key 'historic' AFTER the object ?

I cannot ‘understand’ the meaning of this sentence →

Isn’t it more simple (for example) to tag ;
boundary_marker (building / museum / castle / archaeological_site / ruins / ship / memorial / monument / fort / battlefield ), and then add historic=yes ?
**because then there is no ‘problem’ to choose between a ‘modern’ **boundary_marker (building / museum / castle / archaeological_site / ruins / ship / memorial / monument / fort / battlefield / etc… ) ?

No, because then anything (renderer, router, whatever) will show non-existent buildings/museums/castles unless they test for every single insane modifier tag that’s been invented. Basically, this tag combination degrades gracelessly.

See also disused=yes, demolished=yes, construction=yes, etc. etc. and http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Trolltag

Still, i cannot understand your reasoning, because, if ‘something’ (castle/museum/building/etc.) is not there anymore, then simple delete it … :roll_eyes:
