Dear Eggie,
I am Sandor from mapcat.com. Recently you contacted 2 of my colleagues who had changed a POI in OSM database. You were right, and we are glad that you are enthusiastic about the quality of openstreetmap database.
Let me tell you that on mapcat.com in the coming month we are going to introduce a new feature called simple edit. This tool enables a very simple and easy way to update some features of openstreetmap database. Changes are updated to OSM in minutes, so our aim is to give an easy to use tool for average users to improve the coverage and quality of OSM data. Now we are focusing on POIs.
As it is not in development phase, and we are testing the feature, I would like to ask if you are interested in contribution on this? What do you think a simple POI edit feature should have capable of doing? What are the required tags in your opinion? How could we or the community validate it? If you are willing to help us, we can grant access to our development page so you can either test it or tell your notices.
Please let me know your opinion and write me to the sandor.palfi@mapcat.com Have a nice day!
Sandor
