I am guessing that means the Oregon handles default rendering of [0x10A02] differently from BaseCamp.
Now that the intermittent tag is picked up and given the relevant object codes, users who are interested in the distinction should be able to use their own custom typ settings to render permanent and intermittent waterways differently on their GPSr devices, when this does not happen by default. Thanks again for enabling this.
Or, I wonder if it could be a problem with the suggested style rules placing dashed lines over solid lines (where they may not be visible). If so, popej has provided the simplest solution at http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=53986 (put the intermittent rule before the corresponding permanent waterway rule in the style).
ligfiester, you probably already tried something like this. But it may help other novices like me working on their own small map areas using mkgmap. It does work with distinct rendering of intermittent vs permanent waterways in an overlay map on a nuvi, the only GPSr I have tried so far.
Can anything be done to improve the default rendering of cliff lines? A good example is:

OSM standard (Mapnik?) rendering handles this well, with unlabelled markings like those on a topo map. But the garmin-converted map from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ gives poor/confusing appearance in BaseCamp at least, with variably-spaced strings of blue squares which have a “Land Feature” label on hover. As cliffs are marked in part for safety, it would be good to use the common topographic map convention if possible.
Edit: OOPS! I see this is done well in the new style already available for download. Others may also be interested to compare this ‘new style’ for any feature that needs more typ info for rendering.

I am sorry for my poor English. I wanted view Bus halts my garmin etrex10 particularly for Sri Lanka. (Something similar to maps.me application in android or iOS where it shows bus halts). Some of the bus halts been mapped especially in the Northern Sri Lanka but most of them are not yet mapped. I used to travel a lot in the bus as well as in the morbike also in bycycle. Adding bus halts will help other commuters.
Previoulsy you have provided two links with the style sheet and a type file to achieve the results in garmin device. But unfortunately I couldn’t succeed in my attmpt. Highly appreciate if you can help me. Sorry for bothering once again with the same problem.
You can edit the typfile 2000.TYP that comes with the generic maps with an editor like typviewer or Typwiz. Then search for Type=0x02f and SubType=0x17 in the points and make a nice icon.
I want to download the “Routable Bicycle (Openfietsmap Lite)” maps for the south-west corner of Western Australia. I select just 4 tiles (AU-Perth, ID-Denpasar,AU-Albany & AU-Armadale) , but the lower left tile (AU-Perth) does not appear in the resulting map when viewed in MapSource. I repeated the attempt but added another tile (to force it to create a new download), and the same problem exists. (Sadly, AU-Perth covers the area where I live!)
JaVaWa GMTK reports that the map segment (63440994) is there - it just doesn’t render in MapSource.

Have you tried ctrl-G twice to clear your cache?
Just downloaded ‘_macosx.zip = Installer for Garmin BaseCamp/RoadTrip (Mac OSX)’ from <http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl> and found when uncompressed the zip file, the resulting .gmap file was a folder in Mac OS X, so can’t be installed in Basecamp.
You have to use mapinstall for the Mac to install the gmap folder. If that does not work you can install it with GMTK from Javawa, http://www.javawa.nl/gmtk_en.html

I could really use a hand. I have been using these maps for quite some time, but recently went to a new PC and had to reload all my software. I am using Mapsource v6.16.3 and have just downloaded a requested map file. It has loaded nicely and I have changed the name using JaVaWa … the files also open in Mapsource no problem.
However … I am getting NO map details. At all.
In fact … in the bottom right hand screen … about the map scale, it shows “Basic Map only”
Any help would be appreciated …
Maybe press Ctrl-G?

See menu View → Basic map only = Ctrl-G
This is a handy command for clearing map cache, just press Ctrl-G twice.
I feel rather stupid … I guess maybe I should dig deeper into MS … and learn to ask for help earlier.

I have done several days worth of work uploading GPX tracks and digitizing dirt roads used by our cycling group in Atyrau Kazakhstan. I had used the KZ maps on my gps previously and it worked great. Now I need to know when the tracks I have created would show up in a build from that region?

Once you have drawn those ways in OSM. The uploaded tracks will never show up.
Why not? They seem to be correctly tagged and show up on the standard rendering.

I was referring to cactoliths uploaded traces. Of course the highways that are drawn from these traces are rendered on the garmin map as soon a new build is made. The uploaded GPX tracks are not rendered; I understood that this was his question. Sorry for the confusion if the last mentioned “track” was not the same as the uploaded GPS track.
