http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=582191#p582191

“delete constructed geometries” - http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/37546614
“revert constructed geometries.” - http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/37616270

Dear Russian OSMers,

please don’t allow d1g a.k.a. Xxzme to stir up a fight. The “modern meridian” and the “Equator” are just as valid as the “49th parallel” or any other geometric construct. It does not make sense to add them to OSM. Any software drawing a map can easily add such information if it is desired. A crowdsourcing project is not required to find out where the Equator is

Bye
Frederik

There no fight, you are doing removals and deletions before consensus on topic is really settled. There no point in changing data right now, we can remove or add it whatever possible without DWG investigations. Please do not claim you actions as community consensus. We would like to make a good decision about this:

We can consider your statements as demagogy Frederik. 49th parallel isn’t North pole or South pole you just removed. Even Wikipedia links are all different:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Pole
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Pole
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/49th_parallel

If you talk about South Pole as “CONSTRUCTED GEOMETRY”, then explain how this paragraph is false:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2480805007/history
http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2480792581/history
http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2480792580/history

Yes, it is incorrect to have all of them at once.

But stating that there no North Pole? Really Frederik?

Yes. It is your opinion, thanks for reminding us.

There no agruments not to have it in a database directly. We don’t need additional software to have 2 nodes of poles and 3 ways.

If you can explain how can a NODE have a CONSTUCTED geometry:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2480805006/history
http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2480792578/history

I’m completely on your side here and that’s what I’m saying in this topic.

Too bad neither of you is able to argument speech other than to repeatedly chant “we don’t need it” or “software could do that”.

“Recommendations to remove Equator” were criticized: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=582193#p582193 as groundless and hypocritical.

And we haven’t heard Павел Гетманцев opinion on this. I’m not sure if he busy or have no interes in discussing it.

And no BushmanK, personal attacks you just made 3 times doesn’t count as arguments.

If there English-speaking users able to explain why North pole should be removed or kept, we would like to know!

Don’t let woodpeck aka Frederik Ramm to force his view as “unquestioned OSM consensus”

Quadrant delimeters, should be aligned to round coordinates

https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/392950434
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/392952556
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/393089749

и т.п.

OK, let’s made consensus.

My opinion - we do not need in OSM: equator, poles, polar circles, tropics and any other meridians, circles of latitude or points which coordinates are defined as constants and does not represent either landscape feature or any kind of administrative/political/e.t.c. border.
We do not need in OSM time zones in seas as well.

Reason: any kind of map task which may use geometry of such objects - may use coordinates from definition as well.

I agree with you on lines, fully defined by constant coordinates or coordinate equations (such as Equator, Polar circle, etc).

Not completely sure about timezone borders since having it on the land only will turn them into incomplete data. I’d prefer to keep them.

Exactly what LLlypuk82 said, decisions made solely on preference and without a reason.

UPD: I have updated my reply, so BushmanK cannot state that I “misquoting” him.

There no explanation to remove objects with a proper noun. Objects with name=* belong to OSM: name=North Pole + place=locality.

Stating that objects that could be used for Geocoding could be replaced with rendering software later on is incorrect and incompetent.

I am not going to polish my wording just to please some person with butthurt.
You can continue playing with other people’s words constructing what they didn’t say and taking it out of context.

I never stated anything you haven’t said. You are simply repeating “what to do”. Over and over.

You are unable to provide a reason to “why?” and you had direct questions you have ignored before: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=582197#p582197

Yes, BushmanK 4th personal attack is definitely an argument. I hope you will get banned sooner https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Etiquette.
