HaptoRender usable?

Hello,

I'm coming to OpenStreetMap from the point of view of wanting to print a haptic map that can be used for navigation by a blind person. I understand HaptoRender is a sub-project working on that. Is it currently possible to create a 3D print from OpenStreetMap data? How? I'm willing to look into contributing code if that's needed.

Re: HaptoRender usable?

No concrete hint for you, but in the OSM wiki I can only find http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/HaptoRender

and http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_for_the_blind ...maybe you know this already.

Or do an own search about
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/3D
and the subforum here at http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewforum.php?id=42

Re: HaptoRender usable?

Thanks for your suggestions. I've been looking around more, and it seems that HaptoRender is a dead project, though I'd be glad to be corrected on that. I ended up starting to modify OSM2World instead. I posted another question to the 3D subforum: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=52815
