amenity=speed_trap and direction
how should I set up a speed_trap?
amenity=speed_trap
direction=? (east, west, north etc.?)
What is the direction? The car runs into the speed_trap or the way the speed_trap is pointing?

There's an proposed feature, I hope it suits you or perhaps you can join in on the discussion.
I have read it, though it does not say anything about the direction. Anyhow, I will initiate the discussion an propose the direction the camera is pointing at. By the way, the symbol 
looks very much like a parking spot symbol and will confuse some viewers. The proposed Symbol 
looks much better!
