Potlatch - Aligning Satellite Imagery

Hello forum.

It used to be the case that in Potlatch I could move satellite image backgrounds around (to fix any alignment problems with the map data) by holding the space bar while dragging the mouse/touchpad.

This doesnā€™t work any more. I donā€™t know whether Potlatch has changed or if itā€™s a problem with my PC.

Dell laptop running Windows 10 (same problem existed in Windows 8), browser used is latest version of Chrome (MS Edge also has the problem).

Can anyone help please?

Thanks.
Alan.

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and teach myself to use JOSM instead :open_mouth:

Definitively recommended!

Donā€™t hesitate to ask here when you get stuck somewhere ā€¦ but after two weeks or watching some tutorial videos (yes, they do exist) you will have success in using JOSM! I am sure!!

Definitely not recommended.

P2ā€™s draggable imagery hasnā€™t changed. Do you know what version of Flash Player you have?

For info, with a flash player that Mozillaā€™s plugincheck says is up to date, works for me on Windows 7 in SeaMonkey and Chrome

Re JOSM, Iā€™d love it if some of the ā€œyou ought to use JOSMā€ people could answer some of the outstanding JOSM questions that Iā€™ve asked in the past (see some of https://help.openstreetmap.org/users/387/someoneelse?questions_sort=active&questions_page=2 ). Itā€™s a shame, because what it can do it does well - it just fails at some of the basics that Iā€™d need as a (clearly not very typical) survey-based mapper

Which one?

If you miss a feature, you should create a josm ticket.

The ones on the page that I linked to - both the ones without an accepted answer, and where I accepted an answer that says ā€œyou canā€™t do that with JOSMā€.

A couple of new answers have popped up there - so thanks to the submitters for those.

While using Google Chrome 46.0.2490.71 m I can see while in Potlatch by right clicking my mouse that itā€™s Flash 19.0.0.226

Can also swap browsers to Microsoft Edge and that tells me that itā€™s working with Flash 19.0.0.185 (and I have the same problem here).

From memory, this feature of Potlatch worked fine when I was using Windows 7 but stopped working when I upgraded to Windows 8 (and has now continued not working under Windows 10).

It seems the only unanswered question is https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/7618/josm-is-it-possible-to-move-gpx-waypoints-out-of-the-way-to-see-what-might-be-underneath, but I think nothing will happen there without a JOSM ticket. GPX data is not meant to modify in JOSM.

@Klumbumbus Thanks (especially for https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/6368/in-josm-is-it-possible-to-see-gpx-track-waypoint-details - Iā€™ll have a look at that later). https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/26439/josm-validator-can-i-use-it-to-automatically-merge-duplicate-nodes is another ā€œthe accepted answer is that you canā€™tā€ one, and https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/10622/josm-how-do-i-remove-commands-from-the-command-stack is really ā€œaccepted answer doesnā€™t actually work well enough to be usefulā€.
