Tiles per Minute - mapnik

Does someone know how many tiles (maximum) the actual mapnik tileserver can deliver per minute?

Btw these are the munin graphs, they only tells you that it's on average 98 pages per second, which is not equal to how much it renders.

Re: Tiles per Minute - mapnik

Here is JonB's answer:

The maximum rate seen from real network traffic happened a couple of weeks ago. It was running at somewhere in the region of 600 tiles/s (36,000 tiles/minute) with 50Mbps of traffic.

It has never really been tested to its maximum limit. A simple 'ab' test on loopback shows that the server can in theory handle serve thousands of tiles per second with a data rate of hundreds of megabits per second (see below).

In practice the machine is limited to 100Mbps by the internet link. Also once the load gets beyond a certain (unknown) point the machine may start to become IO bound if people try to look at tiles from many different locations simultaneously.

Re: Tiles per Minute - mapnik

But now we are talking static image serving and rendering together.

It's only about static image serving. The most of the tiles delivered through te cache of the server (12 GByte RAM) so it is very very fast. There is a second part of JonB's answer with JonB's ab test:
