"Ressorts"

Which tag do you use for “ressorts” which offer “24h service” (often advertised in Thai only). They are not geared towards tourists staying for a few nights, but when travelling thru the non-touristic province they are still good places to stay for one night.
tourism=motel looks good (see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:tourism=motel ), but might be misleading.

I guess you’re referring to the establishments known in Thai as โรงแรมม่านรูด (rong raem maan ruut), known for their curtained drive-in parking spots and sometimes referred to as “short-term h/motels” or “love h/motels”. In Thailand, the term motel has indeed pretty much become associated with such establishments, but I agree that it might be misleading for users familiar with the term’s original American meaning.

You are right, Paul. What’s your suggestion? amenity=love_hotel in addition to tourism=motel?

I hadn’t noticed that tag existed. The combination does seem to suit well.

No, that’s not an official tag, just my suggestion.

Actually it does appear to be official (with a vote). A lucky coincidence, I guess. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dlove_hotel
