where/how can i find updated osm file of israel?
Hi,
I am new to osm, i have download an osm file from here: http://downloads.cloudmade.com/asia/western_asia/israel
this file seems to be lacking as i am unable to locate many main streets roards etc. (its from early 2011)
where can i find an updated osm file of israel?
or how can i scrape it? i tried also using http://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/ma … 2.17,34.84
but the file returned is very little, and does not provide the data i was hoping for.
Thanks for your help!

You may want to try http://download.geofabrik.de/openstreetmap/asia where you can find israel_and_palestine.osm data in .bz2 and .pbf formats

Re: where/how can i find updated osm file of israel?
Additionally you can use the following *.POLY file that includes all Israel area incl. the settlements with Hebrew names :
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8w81rgmuxd0x7 … _only.poly (thanks to yrtimiD)
A poly file is somehow like a cutout of the area you need.
In this case you get a box from Israel including areas of Jordan, Syria and Egypt from Geofabrik and the poly file will define the area more accurate to Israel itself.

Thank you,
which tool would you reccomend to extract the data from the osm/pbf file (i can use windows but prefers linux)?
(a most simple sample would also be appreciated but not a must)
thanks for your help!
p.s A link for various osm files, including israel can be found here (previous link is now broken):
