How to import .osm-file to Postgis database on Windows?

Hi guys,

I spent the whole day trying to import a .osm-file into a database on Windows 7. I read many many pages about how to do this, but still I didn’t succeed. :frowning:

The problem is that there are so many different tools available and as a newbie I just can’t decide which to use.

I would be so happy, if you could give a step by step instruction on how to do it. It must be possible somehow! There is no need to be too detailed right now, I will try to follow your steps as good as possible and will just ask if more detail is needed for me.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi,

I am using this version of osm2pgsql http://tile.openstreetmap.org/osm2pgsql.zip.
It works for me on 32-bit Vista. Advice for XP on page http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Osm2pgsql should be valid but I have not tested them with Windows 7.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I find myself having the same issue. I am a driver for one of the moving companies charlotte, and I really need to get this working to assist me on the job. I tried what you suggested, and got it to work. I think I just about have this operating properly for work. I am extremely grateful for your help here!

Hey, guys thanks for sharing this information. Actually one of my business files struck in a directory database and I want to import it from there to my mailing address. But it’s denying my request by saying that you are not authorized or there is some password problem. It’s very important for my work.
