JOSM - JAR vs Windows Installer

I use JOSM as my main OSM editor. Since I started contributing to OSM I have used the Windows installer of JOSM (I run Windows XP).

Sometimes when I run it I would get the message “You should update!”, so I would update and download the latest Windows installer.
The last time I updated I instead downloaded the .jar version and ran it and it worked fine.

My question is, should I in future run the .jar version of JOSM or just continue to install the latest Windows installer over the previous one?

The josm-tested.jar is all you need in order to run JOSM. The installer simply copies this file to the program folder and makes a few default settings in %APPDATA%/JOSM.

Many thanks for your reply bastik, I will probably continue to use the tested JAR file in future.
