Tolls

ΣΧ4. Αν ορίσω ως toll=no όλα τα κομμάτια και μόνο την έξοδο C ως toll=yes, τότε ο navigator θα έχει πληθώρα επιλογών (A,B,D).

I have a diagram that better illustrates how we should tag sections with or without tolls: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Greece/Motorways

The sections of motorways that are meant to be tagged as toll=yes are the sections where there is no “escape” to and from a toll booth. For free sections of motorway, use toll=no. The last thing we want is to get complaints about users being “tricked” into using a road that leads to a toll booth.

@ika-chan!
There is a mistake on this diagram.
On the lane from left to right, after toll on main line, there is a toll station on the exit after the junction.
The exit is ok to be mentioned as toll=yes.
But the main lane, should not be mentioned as toll=yes, since there is free exit.
The idea is when someone is mistakenly in a highway and doesn’t want to pay tolls, to leave highway as long as possible and not in the 1st exit found.

I should have said roads to and from a toll booth.

The sections that you have pointed out cannot be reached without paying a toll, regardless of where that toll booth was located: that is why they are marked as “toll=yes”.

If you mark those segments as “toll=no”, you increase the risk of drivers accidentally ending up paying the toll before reaching that segment. That is why I cannot consider any of your tagging options to be suitable for the situation on the ground.

For example, the toll booths on the Attiki Odos (A6) are placed in a way so that drivers only pay the toll once for the entire motorway. They must not be confused with the system in countries like Italy, where you take a ticket at the entrance and pay at the end.
