Re: Haiti Help Project
The map of the earthquake affected cities Port-au-Prince and Carrefour, is looking pretty impressive now. Better than google maps.
We need to get the word out to people that they could use our map, and offer any help that is needed. This includes aid agencies working on the ground (help using garmin downloads? shapefiles?) and also anyone running websites to do with the response efforts, with maps. Anyone displaying a google map should probably be showing OpenStreetMap at least as an alternative layer. We have more information on our map. Even the location of some refugee camps (visible in the GeoEye imagery)!
This forum could be a good place for people to ask for help with these things. Keep an eye on this, and direct people to other OSMers who can help if necessary
