OSM dataformat to Basecamp .GMAP

Hi
I need a really good map for outdoor activities. Downloaded a region and now have a big file with the extension osm.pbf

I want to create

  1. map for my GPS — seems I could use mkgmap (I have to understand all the steps and parameters… but seems it is the way)

  2. map for BaseCamp… which is typically a .gmap file…

That is my question: how can I convert the big .osm.pbf file to .gmap?

Many thanks!

Yes you can do that with mkgmap. But before you can execute it, you need to use the splitter. To create a gmap, simply add --gmapi as option (this is a recent addition and probably not described in the wiki or many tutorials?).

Many thanks. I will get down to it… :-)…
