i-locate project, Indoor data, OSM and Routing!

Hello all,
I am Nicola and I'm currently working on a project called i-locate.
The official link, with the full story is www.i-locate.eu where you can find all the relevant information about who we are, what we do and all the publicly available material on the project (deliverables, software and source code).

i-locate is part of the CIP-ICT-PSP-2013-7 programme (a pilot B type) which aims to address one of the most relevant but not yet solved issues: Indoor Navigation and indoor tracking.

As you can read from the detailed information on the project website, it is indeed more than the simple abstract defined before. We are working on open standard, open source and opening our work to the communities all over the Europe (and even the world if any).
We decided to follow a new but potential standard for indoor spaces description and indoor graphs description, called IndoorGML ( http://www.opengeospatial.org/standards/indoorgml ) which fits well with OSM indoor schema.

We also use OSM data for routing. We are running a customized (edits are open source) version of OTP (Open Trip Planner) for providing seamless indoor/outdoor routing using the indoor graphs described as above.

In addition, we developed a JOSM plugin (not officially release but source code is open and free for everyone) that allows to import, view edit and export IndoorGML data.

As the technical manager of the project, I'm here to spread our work and find a way to match and involve this wonderful community of OSM! I hope we can join our work together to build a better Indoor big_smile

Sorry for posting again, but we would like to hear your opinion about localization services:

"What do you think about indoor localization services?
We would like to hear your opinion in this survey."

This forum is pretty low volume* ; you might be better off on https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev or #osm-dev on OFTC on IRC (for "development" stuff) or https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk or #osm for general "hey this is interesting look at this" stuff.  I'd also add a bit more info about what it is you're actually doing**

* in English; it's the go-to place for the Russian and German communities.

**  e.g. is "a pilot B type" some kind of whale? :-)

Hello Nicola,

You've mentioned that you "developed a JOSM plugin (not officially release but source code is open and free for everyone)". Where is the source code of the plugin hosted? In the GitLab repo? If it's in there, could you help me finding it? Currently I have access to the repo but I can't find it.

I'm working on my undergraduate thesis and this could be really helpful.
