Good question, I cant get rid of them too, I think it has to do with mkgmap that renders those borders as complete relations,
I cover them with another line on top (and in my typ file the maritime borders have the same colour as the sea).
Put this line before the other borders:
maritime=yes [0x1001f resolution 14]

I also want to get rid of all the admin borders that follow the coastline but cant do that either.

Hi,
I'm trying to do the same, but I can't differentiate maritime boundary from land boundary.

I've been reading this:

... so I supposed that there is a way!

Did you find any way to solve the problem?
