Access restrictions on areas

Is it possible to define access restrictions for areas? Or is this automatically implied when I use (for example) landuse=military; military=danger_area. I checked the map features page but this says the access= tag is only used for ways.

Re: Access restrictions on areas

Seems logical. The mapping feature page and the Key:Access page http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Key:access are not consistent. On the latter the key: Access can also be used for areas (as you suggest). It might be worth a try, although I expect that Mapnik will not render it.

Re: Access restrictions on areas

The information is primarily for navigation purposes I guess, so that's not a problem. I'll tag them with the access tag.

Re: Access restrictions on areas

tag it.

Areas are hard to handle in routing, there are lots of trouble with them. So I don't think access on areas are very good for routing but for humans it's easy to understand and that's what counts..
