Editing tags in a browser

Is it possible to edit node tags in a browser?

All GUI editors are a joke, it took me six hours fiddling around just to add a few tags to a dozen of objects – Merkaartor is crashing after entering a dozen of tags, JOSM isn’t really usable when your nodes are spread around the city and your PC is two years old, while the editor on the site requires Flash, rendering it unusable on a free system. I’m not a map editor, so I don’t really care about object placements, but I want to add translations and correct mistakes in the information of certain nodes, which requires me to start a full-blown map editor (none of which seems to work) which is an overkill and not very useful when they are not oriented towards entering textual information in.

Is there an user-friendly interface, e.g. one that lets you a selection (say, all nodes from a given road) of nodes from an area in an XML format, editing it with a simple text editor and submitting it back? I can download the nodes one by one (not very useful), and there isn’t an option to submit them back.

As far as I know there is no such webservice to edit recent OSM data when you want to edit also the coordinates of an object.

For editing just the tags see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Amenity_Editor
and about creating new node objects search for YAPIS

All possibilities to edit OSM data should be collected in the OSM wiki at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Editor

Some more are listed at http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/List_of_OSM_based_Services#Edit

Thank you very much.
