A note from a private / commercial geodata provider

Hi there,

I am thinking about providing all our German attributive data to OSM (streetnames, addresses, zipcodes etc) to OSM.
I am also thinking about pushing OSM in Germany to a standard like TeleAtlas and NavTeq because their licences are
making me a kind of sick. I need for my customers maps in google quality with easy licence models. What do you thing?

michael.

As long as you ‘own’ the data (license wise) then it’s totally up to you if you want to share that data with the OSM community. It would be great if you will!

Nobody in the OSM community is stopping you from pushing OSM in Germany. In contrary, please do

If the OSM coverage in Germany is good enough for you then nothing will stop you from providing that data in ‘Google’ quality (whatever that means). There are lots of render examples from Mapnik or Osmarender that show their render quality and what they can do for you.

There is a very high traffic mailing list about Openstreetmap in Germany

http://lists.openstreetmap.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/talk-de

I think you should go there, I’m sure there are some people who are serious enough to be able to help you out.
