Looks like there’s a problem with China here:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/270056#map=10/27.3327/89.0236

(that’ll take a while to display - it’s a big relation).

The most recent change (by a relatively new user) is likely part of the problem, but I’m not sure how many other of their changes also contribute to the problems in that area…

Yes, there is something going on - in real live too. india and china agreed to solve a conflict in the far west of bhutan. (Strange, i know).
The area of Doklam http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3964647#map=13/27.2736/88.9881 may be added to china - but not yet.

but there is no official agreement right now. so we should revert all ot his changes to get the old state.

i fixed that area 2-3 times during the last week.
I’ll contact the mapper and ask him to stop asap.

some infos: https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=661172#p661172 ff (sorry, german)

walter

I sent him/her a note. as you did before. Because he did not answer and goes on changing, i suggest a block.

I won’t revert the changes right now, because this may result in conflicts later.

Thanks - I’ll keep an eye on things and block after the next problematical edit.

And what’s about the actual - wrong - situation? see list one post before.

Regards
walter

i may reset to the old situation, but not doing a revert. because he/she did to many changes.
seems to be a newbie because using iD and doing some newbie-errors. but may be, it’s a socket puppet? i’m not quite sure.

@someoneelse: thy guy just started to edit more things. of course, he did not answer any question.

please blck asap to prevent more problems.

i just uploaded my fixes for his edits: http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/51789386

walter

ps: may be i’ll have to check Tibet again (yes, he modified that too) to be shure, everything is ok

I was already writing this as you were posting

Great

He keeps on mapping: http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/51791739#map=14/27.2539/88.9357
Did you get a message? I haven’t.

walter

No messages here, so I’ve 0-hour blocked again.

However the latest 2 changesets didn’t affect international borders at first glance, so if subsequent mapping is like that, I’d be tempted to ignore.

I wouldn’t assume that (a) they can understand English or (b) that Google’s English → Chinese Simplified is any good. It should be good enough to indicate to them that “someone is trying to talk to me” but beyond that I wouldn’t hold out much hope.

in about 20 years this problem will no longer exist. Chinese will be the most used language on earth and OSM will change the tagging/language policy to chinese

Regards
walter

btw: i’ll watch his activities. i think you too.
