Can't authenticate maps. contact seller for help

Got a new message.
“MAP WAS DISABLED. COULDN’T AUTHENTICATE…”.
I followed th steps above and i still get the same error.
SD card id FAT32, in the Garmin folder I have the *.IMG file, codepage 1252.
gpsmap 7612xsv, software version 20.40

Can you provide at least some information about where you got the map from, how you installed it, and what device you’re using?

Format the Sd Card to FAT32, Created the Garmin Folder, Copied the gmapupp.img file inside the Garmin folder.

Er, OK…

A quick web search suggests that that is a commercial Garmin map (a marine one) as opposed to an OSM-based one.

Possible reasons why it might not work include:

  • Some sort of general copy protection issue
  • Perhaps the newer device doesn’t support that particular map or type of map

“type of map” might be “utf8” (see link above) or “marine” (although no references in the thread above).
