Abandoned railway - how to code for cycle track?

Thanks for all replies. I also had no idea abandoned railways could be so controversial!

Also useful to learn a few noob things on the way, like the distinction between the database and the map.

I hope my solution suits everybody tolerably well - anyone interested can go and have a look.
