I think in that case you should only use the outer ways so you get a closed circle as a level 4 relation. But I am fairly new to relations myself so maybe an expert can shed more light onto this issue.

I would ask on the imports mailing list. They should know.
The best thing I tink would be not to just import them but to make them available in a layer people can load in JOSM and then add the names while manually checking for corerctedness and actual coverage.

Ergänzend noch der Hinweis, dass auf der Standardkarte nich alles angezeigt wird (werden kann). Das ist als Rückmeldung für den/die Eintragenden zwar schande aber nicht anders machbar. Dafür gibt es unzählige Spezialkarten, in denen die Dinge dann stehen.

Ich dachte auch gleich an Wikidata. Die haben doch auch meist einen Link zu OSM und eindeutige Zuordnungen der Städte und Orte.

Ich habe OsmAnd~ aus dem f-droid repo. Das ist wohl näher an der Pro-Verson.

Ja. Wir tragen nur Dinge in Openstreetmap ein die in der realen Welt auch da sind. Die meisten sind physisch da (Bäume, Häuser, Straßen), andere wenige weniger bis garnicht (Grenzen, Stadtgebiete, Postleitzahlen).

Vermutlich gibt es einfach zu wenig Radfahrer mit Interesse an OSM oder das Eintragen der Radwege ist zu kompliziert. Das ist schade, keine Frage, aber da kann man nur in mühsamen, kleinen Schritten etwas daran ändern.

GPX-tracks:
If you want to upload them, thats still usefull as the background images (Bing sat images in most cases) isnt always correct. It can differ up to several meters or more. So tracks are a good thing. map updates:
Depends a bit on the zoom level and on where/when you look at the map. Normally, your updates show up on the map after a few minutes. Lately, it was a bit longer as we had some style changes which produced a lag in the updates.
If you look at a part of the map, the OSM servers check if there were any updates in the region and if there are, they render the map anew. If that takes to long, you get the old map tiles and the old tiles get rendered once the server has some spare time.

Finally: Yes you are using iD and no you dont have to publish you data. If its saved, then its there.
