Has it been discussed to make a popup for the icons on the various map renderings? Looking at an area, it would be nice with a mouseover saying that this was a church by that name. Same with additional info on a restaurant.
It could be done. The OpenLayers system allows for this kind of thing but it would require significant behind the scenes work to make it happen.
Has this been considered again?
I was just curious - I get a lot on the map which is just symbols which are less than self-explanatory.
There is OpenStreetBrowser which kind of does this. Though I think its currently Europe only. And it can be a bit slow.
