I have just noticed some incorrect edits/possible vandalism: Some German cities seem to have been tagged as belonging to the “Königreich Württemberg” - Kingdom of Württemberg (which ceased existing in the early 20th century as far as I know).
Both edits were done by the same user, https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Jonathan%20Masur, who might not be a native German speaker.
There may be more edits like these. Is there a way to search for and remove similar edits?
Can you explain a bit more what the problem is?
Looking at https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/62495 , the only relation membership I see is an electoral one (Bundestag 2013). The changeset comment does say “Königreich Württemberg” but that is just a comment; it doesn’t form part of the OSM data that people see in maps etc. Is there anywhere else that the current existance of “Königreich Württemberg” is implied?
It may not be displayed in the map but very prominently in the sidebar directly under the name of the city. And every user who searches for Ulm on the openstreetmap.org map will see it there (that’s how I found it: as a normal user). It’s like having a “British Empire” label for Washington, D.C… If it’s just a changeset comment, it shouldn’t be displayed on the screen in that way.
I don’t know if there’s anywhere else - that’s why I asked how to search for something like this, and (if there are many instances) how to remove them quickly.
That’s how all OSM “browse” pages work. For example, http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/345039907 shows a changeset comment of “North of West Stockwith, from survey” even though the thing itself isn’t particularly near West Stockwith.
If you want to suggest how those pages work, then https://github.com/openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website/issues is the place to do so, but don’t forget that this pages are designed “for mappers”, so details of the last changeset is actually quite important. You’ll have to come up with a really good argument to justify the change.
