Adding speed limit to part of a road

Hello, How do I add a speed limit through a village on part of a road (Tertiary Road #148686920) I can’t figure it out.

Add anonymous nodes at the start and end of the speed limit. Split the way at those nodes. Then edit the attributes of the middle section. This is easy with JOSM, given you know how to use it.

For iD, double click at each end, and then select each added node in turn, and use the scissors to split the way at that point.

For Potlach, see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Potlatch_2/Primer#Advanced_edits as I’m not in a position to dry run this.

If applicable, you may add the tag traffic_sign=city_limit (see http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:traffic_sign ) to the start / end nodes.
