Map of Azores islands to Legend HCx

Without knowledge of java or perl I cannot find a procedure to create and download such a map onto my Legend HCx. Please tell me how to do it.
Thanks

Hi,
did you try the http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php site ?

you simple have to select and download the desired tiles and put them onto your Garmin
SD card.

Unfortunately, the Azores islands are in none of the tiles!

Oops, why that? Is that island still unmapped?

Update: Some of the Azore Islands like Santa Maria seem to be unmapped.

Update2: Now the airport is mapped (from landsat)

Is this the area you’r looking for?

Geofabrik provide a Planet extract for the Azores here: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/europe/
Download the azores.osm.bz2 file, unzip it, then you can use mkgmap to convert it Garmin format.
Use a command like this:

java -Xmx512M -jar mkgmap.jar --route --remove-short-arcs --gmapsupp azores.osm

That will give you a gmapsupp.img file. Then copy this to the “Garmin” directory on the memory card in the Legend HCx.

Hi,
I created a map (with seapolygons). Downld here:

Unfortunately the Azores end up in a tile that goes from the middle of the Atlantic to -180 degrees instead of -30 (or something like that). I always delete those tiles because they breakt the website functionality.

I am most grateful to all of you who have offered help as I now have a good map to use when I visit the Azores island in April 2010.
Many thanks to all!

I love the blue ocean color (and the Azores as far as I know them). Unfortunately, the map is not available anymore. On the other hand, it will probably take some time until I can afford visiting the Azores again.

At the moment it is on http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php

I just downloaded tile 63240213 and it contains all of Azores.

Yes, I’ve changed the way I split the world into tiles and as a result the islands in the Atlantic are now also covered.

You find it on my user page.

Update: Added the Baleares (Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca).

Wonderful, thanks 1.000 x, Chris!

My mid-term goal is to provide maps for all or some of the canary islands (and keep them up to date) with blue ocean and elevation data. Let’s see how long it will take…

At least I was able to successfully generate one some time ago, the point is that I don’t do it often enough and therefore tend to forget the steps involved.

I added the canarean islands on my user page.
