Misspelled tags in your country

Hi,

we found that some of your local mappers are using tags written in mixed case (with lower and upper letters). That is not right in Osm.

e.g. wall=Brick which must be written wall=brick. Or roof=Tile. Even building=Yes is not ok but this will be rendered.
Please have a look at this overpass query: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/9o5

And please contact you local mappers and ask them to change that. Otherwise this data will be ignored by most of the applications. And there are** thousends** of them in osm.

Hallo,

The tag wall=brick is now described.

Please, used the tag building:material=brick for describe the house-walls.

Thanks.

Well, ehm, the overpass turbo shows an area near Gunung Merapi. That’s on the island of Java in Indonesia. You’d better use the mailing list for Indonesia in this case (the sub-forum users:indonesia is hardly active, just a SEO spammer once a month).
Looks like one user group (see e.g. changeset comment http://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/20516976 ) gathered many data in that area, even the name of the house owner.
Sometimes “description” instead of “name” should be used (e.g. Warung means shop, Masjid mosque, Rumah kosong empty house).
In newer changesets, a very active mapper of that group uses correct lower case spelling (e.g. http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/328917232 ).

i did not create this overpass query and sorry, i did not check it before.

but it is fine, that they do care about the problem and try to fix it.
