Also the automatic aligning of created nodes with respect to such angle - (hopefully everyone understands what I mean) - is not working as well.

No idea why. Upgrading to 7777 (when it was newly released) still gives me the same bug, so I uninstalled and reinstalled again with a fresh profile. The guide line appeared as normal.
