Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

As you probably know we are almost in PHASE 4 of the license change process of Openstreetmap.
The implementation plan (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Open … ation_Plan) shows that we will do the switch this year and that all users declined the new license are not able to access openstreetmap.org anymore.

While I expect the most readers had already accepted the new license there are still a lot of people in Israel undecided.

TOP10 of users that have not decided yet:
#################################################
Rank Name
15     talba (nodes created: 5297 / highways created: 763 )
101     ishchatul  (nodes created: 8 / highways created: 1 )
105     qwerty52  (nodes created: 7 / highways created: 0)
111     Johnny5  (nodes created: 55 / highways created: 1)
115     amirli  (nodes created: 41 / highways created: 15)
128     PDAC (nodes created: 62 / highways created: 6)
135     F Silver (nodes created: 34 / highways created: 0)
139     itaylevyg  (nodes created: 39 / highways created: 13)
146     nitzan  (nodes created: 88 / highways created: 18)
158     lioron  (nodes created: 125  / highways created: 4)

Beside that the User cetest and others did disagree the license and all ways and nodes has to be remapped:

Cetest #103:
Nodes: 527 (0.03%)
Ways:452 (0.03%)
Relations: 15 (0.02%)

jkjk #159:

Here is what will be left of Israel after 1. April 2012
if nobody else will accept the new license change.
#################################################
Nodes
98.3%   => 98,7%  (08.02.2012) => 98,9%  (NEW! Date 22.02.2012)

Highways
96.9%   => 97,6  (08.02.2012)    => 97,8  (NEW! Date 22.02.2012)

Other Ways
97.9%   => 98,2%  (08.02.2012)    => 98,6%  (NEW! Date 22.02.2012)

Routes
100.0%

Other Rel.
98.8% => 99%  (NEW! Date 29.02.2012)
#################################################
Source:  http://odbl.poole.ch/

Total users agreed    799 => 807  => 810  (NEW! Date 07.03.2012)
Pre CT users agreed    367  => 375 => 378 (NEW! Date 07.03.2012)
Adopted users     1
Users disagreed    8
Users unknown    159 => 152  => 149  (NEW! Date 07.03.2012)

Here you can see what data may be lost if nobody else excepts the license:
http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=wt … ne_created

And here you can see what will be left after the 1. April (only showing ODBL license agreed data):
http://cleanmap.poole.ch/?zoom=13&lat=3 … ayers=B000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as I understood we can avoid a deletion of data by recreating ways / nodes or relations of those users.
We should somehow think of a plan to avoid the delete of important places.

Beside that: Does anybody know how to contact user : TALBA ?

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

My biggest concern is regarding talba- as we will loose almost 3 - 5 % of the mapped Israeli area.
That is a huge part.

Actually you can see here what areas will be removed:
http://yosmhm.neis-one.org/?talba=&zoom … 0T&u=talba

Citys:

- South of Netanya
- Ramat Gan
- Jerusalem Area
- Ramla

It is almost impossible to remap his work.
He was just too productive.

So if you hear or see or know him, please ask him to visit this forum.

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

Avi Avraham  (nodes created: 720 / highways created: 53 ) has accepted the new license smile

Can somebody please write a nice text in Hebrew / English that we can send via Email to the other people that haven't accepted the terms yet?

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

Here is the link to more detailed info on possible losses: http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=wt … ne_created

Easy to see, we'll must recreate Ramat Gan and Givataim from scratch... Huge work!

Also, talba uploaded many GPS traces, can we reuse them or old license also applies on them?

Is any body leave in Ramat Gan?

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

I have already send a couple of emails to users and 4 of them has agreed the new license.
would be great if you could publish a hebrew version to ask the users to agree the license.

I have still hope that we will reach talba.
I have send him several emails without response.

Tomorrow we will have new stats (created every week only) and see how many users are left.

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

I have updated the stats of this top thread today.

1.
I have started to migrate the ways of "one time editors".
Meaning that I recreated those ways and deleted the way and nodes those users created before.
Of course I started at the bottom of the statistics page. At the next statistics next week I expect around 10 - 20 users less in the stats.
In several cases its easier to migrate the node than to write a email and ask for accepting the license.

2.
I have written emails via OSM to more that 70 % of the users that haven't decided yet.
Currently I'm blocked via OSM because I have send too many emails, LOL.
Of course I have started from the top to down.

[EDIT] I SEND A EMAIL VIA OSM TO ALL USERS THAT HAVEN'T DECIDED YET.

3.
I know the full name of Talba and I'm trying to get in touch with him through several online ways .
Lets see if there is any progress in the next week.

If anybody is interested in trying to use the offline way (call the telephone company asking for the number / visit his expected home) please PM me.

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

I started to remap from traces big part of Nazrat Ilit to change license of all work done by genama.

What status of other users from the list?
Any changes? Personal details? Anything?

P.S. User Markus B marked as adopted - what is this mean?

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

In my personal opinion we should start with the users that have been declined the new license.
Therefor I have posted a list of actual decliners in the first thread and here what is left of their work:

- Cetest
- jkjk
- ulfl
- JohnSmith
- amai
- Stefan de Konink
- moonwashed

We still have a chance that the others will agree the new license, right?

Is there a way to identify the nodes / way / relations of those users only?

P.S. User Markus B is somehow copied and not a problem anymore.
Please ask google for this user as I also don't really understand what this means smile
I just know that he is not a license problem anymore.

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

I think it's better to start checking all red areas shown at http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/?view=wt … ne_created, and if one belongs to this users - start to remap.

You can find informations about the adoption here:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Quic … options.22

####

My experience of remapping was that I remapped a town in the north of Israel and after I did that the users that mapped it before has agreed the license, because of my emails!
Of course my work was not useless, as I found a lot of mistakes and could add a massive amount of streets to the area.

Instead of remapping big areas we should create a Hebrew template and use it to contact all undecided users again.
If I understand the stats correctly there where 8 users that accepted the license after my emails. But I send a email only in English.

I'm personally searching at the moment for edits of the user cetest and fixing it!

I hope you haven't actually started to remap as we have good news!

genama, shatun, Randbewohner and Hezi_Cohen accepted the license in the last days!!!!

Please, Please create a Hebrew template to send all left users and tell them to accept the new license.
Emails to the users do help!

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

The time is running and I don't really expect Talba to "appear" in the next 3 weeks.
So we should consider remapping his details...

So anybody that wants to help could start here and there I guess cool

Re: Open Database License change on 1. April 2012

As you know the mapping night went sucessfully and we where able to remap the whole area.
Today should be the last day of the OLD license and the results are looking very impressive.
It would be interesting to know how much data will be removed in Israel.

I'm sure its below 0,5 %
