Je kunt niet alles bijhouden en ik loop ook niet iedere week de grens bijlangs.
Het mag duidelijk zijn dat ik het er niet mee eens ben, omdat ik er als Groninger direct door getroffen ben: de hernieuwde aandacht uit Duits-conservatieve hoek is pas begonnen sinds er een discussie is geweest over windmolens en de invloed van de dam in de Eems, oftewel toen er geld te halen viel. Beide gaan ten koste van de natuur voor onze kust …
Het nu als grens invoeren in OSM: mij komt het voor als provocatie, zeker gezien de naam van de mapper.
Overigens vind ik ‘besproken’ niet hetzelfde als ‘overeengekomen’.
Wellicht is het dan nog een optie bij de Nederlandse grens de ‘note: international accepted Dutch border’ oid te plaatsen, als tegenwicht.
Tot dusver is alleen de grens van Duitsland aangepast. Die overlap nu met de grens van Nederland waarvoor we de BAG woonplaatsgrenzen aanhouden.

Waar vinden we de nieuwe grenzen?
Even wachten tot de gemeente Oldambt zijn woonplaats grenzen hierop heeft aangepast (indien nodig)?
Ik vermoed dat de administrieve grenzen van Nederland hiervoor niet aangepast worden, deze volgen al de internationale regels omtrend Exclusive Economic Zones en Territoriale Wateren.
Maar zolang de details van de overeenkomst niet duidelijk zijn blijft het speculeren.
Aan de grens is niks veranderd. Dat geschil blijft. Er is alleen afgesproken er niet al te moeilijk over te doen ( waarbij gezegd moet dat de NL grens internationaal erkend is, en de BD niet ).
In feite een papieren bekrachtiging van wat al jaren de praktijk is.
Dat ‘er niet al te moeilijk over doen’ was al zo geregeld door dhr. Joseph Luns in 1960 en enkele jaren geleden nog eens bekrachtigd in geüpdatete verdragen. Vandaag dus blijkbaar weer een verdere update.
Het artikel is aangevuld sinds de eerste verschijning die ik vanmiddag las en waar @florisje de bump voor deed. In die eerste versie was nog niets te lezen over de grens zelf. Dat stukje over een demarcatielijn stond er ook nog niet in, evenmin als een gedeeld duits-nederlandse verkeerscentrale.

I suspect that the border issue isn’t resolved due to the current negotiations. Yep, the issue isn’t resolved. In fact you might say it has been revived, hence the need for a new treaty. It seems that only after some problems with windfarms and Ems-Sperrwerk there was an renewed interest from the German side. I wasn’t aware of the previous discussions but would take the stand of showing the international recognized border instead of using OSM as a political instrument and showing alternatives. Let’s leave it there, I’ll send a PM about the nickname.
Actually according to the OSM best practice of “on the ground control” both current borderlines should be replaced with the “Zuständigkeitslinie” as soon as we know where it is.
Yep, I think the “on the ground rule” should be discussed when the new treaty is released. At the moment the physical control in this area is confusing. Germany does construction in the main fairway (Ems-Dollart-Treaty article 8), Netherland does construction there only when it’s in the interest of their harbours (article 9). Netherland’s “Strompolizei” * is responsible for the “Bucht von Watum”, the northern and southern fairway to “Bucht von Watum” and southern of “Geisedamm”. Germany’s “Strompolizei” is responsible in the rest of the Ems estuary (article 19).
The German police controls ships which want to an German harbour, Netherland’s police if the ship wants to an Netherland harbour (article 36). And so on…
btw better this regulated way than the way which territorial disputes are handled between the UK and Spain (2012): “Several Royal Gibraltar Police boats surrounded three Spanish fishing vessels on Wednesday night after they cast their nets near Gibraltar harbour, media reports say. The Spanish boats reportedly left the area later, after a Royal Navy vessel arrived and told them again to depart.”
