Hint to 3DCityDB Application

Hello,

i just found a Fossgis 2013 conference program entry (in german) [1].

The conference is over and at the end of the page, there is a download below “Angehängte Dateien”.
Its a pdf-file (again, in german), but unfortunately, the extension .pdf is missung, so you must download the file, append locally .pdf and then you can open the file.

it discuss in german the "The award winning 3D City Database is a free 3D geo database to store, represent, and manage virtual 3D city models on top of a standard spatial relational database. The database model contains semantically rich, hierarchically structured, multi-scale urban objects facilitating complex GIS modeling and analysis tasks, far beyond visualization. ", see in englisch [3]

I’m not involved in 3D issues in osm, but perhaps its relevant for 3D experts in osm?

Greetings

Dietmar aka okilimu

Thanks for the hint. I saw this time ago. Unfortunatly it wasn’t that free nor open as the claim. So it’s us to us to build a true free 3D world

I’ve moved the topic from “users: Germany” to “OpenStreetMap 3D”.

I just came across this post while browsing the internet. I happen to be one of the core developers of the 3D City Database. The 3D City Database is Open Source and released under the terms of LGPL 3.0. Moreover, it is based on and fully compliant with the international OGC standard CityGML for virtual 3D city and landscape models.

What makes you claim that is was not free?

Moreover, CityGML is a free and open standard. It is available, stable, and ready-to-use for building a truly free 3D world.

Cheers,
Claus
