JOSM and Java

The splash page of JOSM states “JOSM soon will no longer support this version of Java, you should update to version 7 or better!”
Which is all very well but there will never be a version 7 for Mac’s Snow Leopard OS 10.6.8.
What does this mean for using JOSM if you don’t want to go to Snow Lion?

What about installing OpenJDK 7?

“Minimum requirements to run
An Intel Mac
RAM: 2GB
Mac OS X 10.7.3”

ie Snow Lion.

Hallo,

Please excuse that I interfere here.

on my system,

Identification: JOSM/1.5 (5836 de) Linux
Memory Usage: 105 MB / 880 MB (24 MB allocated, but free)
Java version: 1.7.0_21, Oracle Corporation, OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM
Operating system: Linux

I have the same problem. My JOSM tells me:

Ihre Java-Version wird bald von aktuellen JOSM-Versionen nicht mehr unterstützt, Sie sollten sie auf Version 7 oder besser aktualisieren!

My Java-Version is:

java version "1.7.0_21"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.9) (7u21-2.3.9-0ubuntu0.12.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)

Who knows the solution for this problem?

I have almost the same Java version on Ubuntu, and I’m not getting the warning (I’m on JOSM 5924 though). There was at least one bug before version 5883 where that message was displayed incorrectly. So considering that you are already on version 7 (aka 1.7), I believe this is a false alarm.

digby’s problem is most likely genuine, though. Unfortunately, I don’t know much about Macs, but I hope someone finds a solution.

Jepp,

thats all!
After an update of JOSM, there is no error message again, even though I have the same version (5836) is displayed. But anyway.

Thank you for the tipp.

Greetings
