Texturen voor OSM

Hello together,

Under: [1] You can see collection of textures for OSM 3D.

For today You can use this textures with [2] but there are some people which are also working on implementation:
osm2world and OSM3D. We think also about multitexturing: Typical background combining with typical windows, doors etc.

The textures are often coutry specific: Maybe can somebody of you shot smoe pictures with Netherlands typical surfaces: Doors, windows, walls, old streets?

I make seamlless textures from this pictures. If somebody of Yo know alone how to do it ( and I belive there are a lt people  ), please do it yourself and put into the wiki page [1]

How to do pictures for texturing? There are some tutorials online. My own tutorial is unfortunatly in translation from geran into the english: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Phototexturing

best regards,

Marek

Iemand die ontdekt heeft dat alle nederlandse rijtjeshuizen op elkaar lijken…

Well thug_n_g, I was few times in Your country and saw nederlandse rijtjeshuizen - I´m architect. Very interesting and good architecture. I have books about

I hope You are not alone in Netherlands and somebody can shot ane e-mail some pictures.

Best regards,
Marek

Sorry for me replying in dutch, I was just joking that someone discovered most dutch houses look really alike. A result of quickly building neighborhoods in the 60’s/70’s/80’s. Newest fashion is historical houses, houses that are new, but look like their middle agic, take for example brandevoort in Helmond, brand new neighborhood, but has a middleagic feeling over it. http://maps.google.nl/?ll=51.460676,5.613384&spn=0.002186,0.006899&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=51.460676,5.613384&panoid=TgTfXhqoBPRDmuH2JldsUA&cbp=12,192.75,0,-14

EDIT: Last time i checked i was not alone, 16.669.112 on the mainland (http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nederland), and 16957118 in the entire kingdom (summing up the 3 other countries of the kingdom) (http://www.google.nl/publicdata/explore?ds=d5bncppjof8f9_&met_y=sp_pop_totl&idim=country:ABW&dl=nl&hl=nl&q=inwoners+aruba#!ctype=l&strail=false&bcs=d&nselm=h&met_y=sp_pop_totl&scale_y=lin&ind_y=false&rdim=country&idim=country:ABW:CUW:SXM&ifdim=country&hl=nl&dl=nl)
so 42882 short of 17 million. So i guess i’m not alone.

Hello thug_n_g, I don´t believe most dutch houses look alike. I believe, we need some thousands of textures for this reason.
Maybe something about history: 1995-1998 i developed one of fisrt german 3D city models (Hamburg) and was scientifical consultant of German government ( I´m from Poland).
One of 2 first city models in Google Earth is even Hamburg. After them i developed the first 3D navigation systems ( see: http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-19901.html - there are some of 1600 (not 1400) 3d models which my staff have made).

Now we have also Google street view and I believe, we can make it better than Google, because they have only automaticly added pictures and we have the possibility to generate true, textured vector data. Of course, the expected amount of data is damn big, but tis is an other problem.
We ( some OSM user from Germany, Poland and Russia) are working on 3D software with the possibility of multitexturing ( e.g.: http://wiki.delphigl.com/index.php/Tutorial_MultiTexturing )by which is mean putting of Elements like typical windows, doors and other elements over background (like brick). With this approach the library is limited to some hundert of basic elements.

You wrote already: You´re not alone, so I belive it is possible to make it. Of course, at teh Beginning it sounds crazy, but OSM was definitly crazy too at the beginning. In my eyes is the impementation of new ideas logical way of innovative projects.
Well, the firs step is the collection of textures. Could You help?
Cheers,
Marek

I wrote also the page with the description how to generate textures:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Seamless_Textures
Some content is now only in german but I hope next days is everything translated into english.

The library has now a few textures more.
This is the reason for subages:
